Welcome to the 2009/10 Science Olympiad Season. 
The informational meeting will be held on Thursday December 17th in room 1424. Permission slips are on the door of room 1424 (Mr. Maneno's room) 

Science Olympiad events are designed to use a variety of intellectual and practical skills.  Some events call for a quick recall of specific facts, while others require concept development, a process skill, or an application of a specific concept.  Some events may require a student or a group of students to work cooperatively to build an apparatus.  Points are assessed to each team based on national judging criteria for each event.  Ribbons and trophies are presented to the highest scoring teams. 

Each school is allowed one team of students in grades 6-9.  A team can have no more than 15 members competing on the day of the tournament.   Each event follows strict national guidelines, which are contained in the Coaches Manual and Rules Division B (Gr. 6-9) provided to each registered team’s coach.
